In mid-2016, Vincent stumbled upon the case of Carla Walker, a 17-year-old girl who was abducted from her boyfriend’s car at gunpoint a couple hours after they attended their high school’s Valentine’s Day dance in 1974. After the case had gone cold, a Fort Worth Police burglary detective named John Terrell liked one of his recurring bad actors for Carla’s murder, and his scorned-cop underdog narrative drew Vincent in immediately. On the surface, it was easy to believe Detective Terrell was right. But after digging, it seemed almost certain he was wrong.

Though there was one social media account dedicated to the then-unsolved Carla Walker case, activity was virtually nonexistent. Vincent and his wife Erica thought the case was solvable, so she began deeply researching and he began speaking with Carla’s loved ones. A community quickly built up around them, and within no time folks were demanding #JusticeForCarlaWalker, both those who knew her and those who didn’t.

After collecting all the research materials and interviews they could, Erica and Vincent decided a podcast would be the best way to get Carla’s case back out there. Gone Cold – Texas True Crime was born, and episode 1, Carla Walker Part 1: Carla’s Story, was released on July 17th, 2017.

Erica and Vincent became close with Carla’s family, who were more determined than ever to get her case solved. The podcast had already gained the attention of the Fort Worth Police and local residents, and long story short, the case was reopened in 2019, an arrest was made in 2020, and on the third day of trial, the man who abducted, raped, and murdered Carla Walker, now a 77-year-old, was sentenced to life in prison. It wasn’t Detective John Terrell’s guy, by the way.

During the time in between and into the present and future, Gone Cold has told the stories of hundreds of victims. Often forgotten by the public, the victims’ families never forget.

So, from relatively well-known cases such as the abduction and murder of Amber Hagerman and the disappearance of Rachel Trlica, Renee Wilson, and Julie Mosely, known collectively as the Fort Worth Missing Trio…

…to lesser-known cases like the slaying of Helen Dawn Williams and the disappearance of Elisa Roberson…

…Gone Cold – Texas True Crime has made it their mission to keep victims’ stories alive in and in the public eye with the hope of shedding new light, bringing forth a renewed interest, and perhaps uncovering new information.
